Creativity requires inspiration. Yöntem Akman, the founder of MAI, which greeted the season with an exquisite candle collection, wanted to create a platform that is unprecedented in Turkey, by collaborating with many people whom she had been impressed and inspired by for his 25 years in the communication industry. Stating that this platform is open for all creative souls who wish to make themselves heard by different target groups, Akman underlines that MAI will be more of a creative platform than a brand. Describing the concept, she says: “There are a great number of prominent creative people in Turkey. Our biggest goal is to enkindle their excitement to create a project and to take these projects born of magnificent collaborations abroad. We’ll be working with valuable designers and artists. Feeding on their travels, stories that impress them, and their inspirations, they will create works with various materials and in limited numbers under the curating of MAI and present them to the audience.” For its first collection, MAI collaborated with famous ceramic designer Hande S nmez. The exclusive series of ceramic candles, all hand-shaped and in limited numbers, was born as a collaborative project that aimed to make our living spaces beautiful, especially during the pandemic.
