What’s your happiest childhood memory? Hande: One of my happiest childhood memories is our fishing family trips on Sundays. I would look forward to it all week. I loved fishing together and then coming home to set the table. Those days when we sat around the table all together have a special place in my heart. Maybe that’s why I’ve always loved long Sunday family dinners.
Gamze: We lived in a boutique apartment complex, and a bunch of kids would play together. We would meet early in the morning and play well into late hours in the evening. Those were marvellous times, and I cherish every moment of it because you can be a kid only once. Luckily, my inner child is still there in me.

Who in your family has the biggest influence on you? Hande: My mother is the person who influenced me the most, I still completely adore her. She’s also the foundation on which my life is built. In every step I took, I always sought her opinion the most, I felt her support more than anyone else’s. She was always beside me when I was pursuing my dreams, encouraging me to push my limits. She taught me how to experience life with limitless love, to remain hopeful even in the darkest times, and to believe in the transformative power of love and good. Her smile was my biggest inspiration and my biggest rock. It always will be.
Gamze: My mother. My personality, attitude, perspective on life - it’s all inspired by her.
Which of your sister’s personality traits would you like to have? How would you define her in three words?
Hande: Gamze is always transparent; she speaks her mind and she says it with honesty. Most of the time, she’s very calm and she doesn’t give rushed reactions. She’s recently taken the new habit of not dwelling on negative things in life. She’s very careful about that because she believes she’ll be affected by the negative energy of that situation, person, or issue. My favourite thing about her is that when she doesn’t want something in her life, she just lets it go and doesn’t get fixated on it.

Gamze: Hande is very sincere and honest. I find it hard to warm up to people. I’d like to be more outgoing like her. I think she’s ambitious, frank, and confident.
You work in different industries, but you always support one another. How do you motivate each other to be better?
Hande: I believe people who have siblings, especially sisters, are luckier in life. It’s the same for us too. There is no one that knows my sister better than me, no one cares about her as much as I do or protects her as I would and vice-versa. She always supports me, and I always stick by her. And now, Mavi, Gamze’s daughter, has joined us in this special and strong bond. Among the three of us, there’s this indescribable love and closeness. Gamze’s motherhood and my becoming an aunt has carried our relationship to a much different level. In a way, we are growing up with Mavi, discovering new things about each other.
From among all the characters you’ve played so far, which reminds you of Gamze the most and in what way?
Hande: Gamze is a unique person, and I haven’t seen many people like her. Still, I associate her the most with Müjde, the character I played in Halka. Like Müjde, Gamze doesn’t explicitly show her sadness.

Do you have a nickname in the family? Does it have a story? Gamze: I don’t really have a nickname but I’m usually very relaxed and nonchalant about things. And I usually say that it’ll be fine. So, they always call me “It’ll be fine, Gamze.
If Hande were to move abroad, what would you miss the most about her and why?
Gamze: We live very close to each other in Istanbul but we both have hectic schedules and can meet only once a week. But sometimes it’s enough to know that she’s close by. We make plan everything together, so she wouldn’t leave without me. I would feel her absence every second.
