What will we wear in space? What will our avatars wear in the metaverse? It’s a fact that fashion has gone well beyond “what to wear today.” On one side, companies like SpaceX and Virgin Galactic introduce the concept of space tourism into our lives and, on the other, augmented reality and the metaverse have irreversibly expanded the limits of the virtual world. These “expanded” realities will undoubtedly make fashion more complex and diverse than it has ever been. It has begun with the NFT collections and virtual fashion shows of giant brands, and the metaverse has truly seized fashion. Brands such as Dolce & Gabbana, Etro, Dundas, and The Fabricant attended the Metaverse Fashion Week, held between March 24 and 27, and presented their digital designs to the audience on virtual podiums.
There is no escaping from NFTs! As Superplastic and Gucci unite their powers with the NFT project “SuperGucci” to explore the depths of the metaverse, fRiENDSiES has put its NFT-building application in collaboration with Christie’s. Bored Ape Yacht Club, one of the world’s most well-known NFT collections, maintains its popularity. Featuring thousands of ape images, all different from one another, these NFTs are sold for hundreds of thousands of dollars, even millions, based on their rarity. Adidas recently collaborated with Bored Ape to join the metaverse.
