From iconic dress on-screen dresses to red carpet couture gowns and custom made wedding dresses, these are the most expensive dresses of all time. Which one is your favorite?



Armani Privé gown studded with Swarovski crystals was worn by Cate Blanchett at the 2007 Oscars. Custom made for Blanchett, the form fitting gown is worth $200,000



Princess Diana danced with John Travolta in 1985, wearing a custom-made velvet gown by Victor Edelstein. The iconic dress was first auctioned off for charity in 1997, selling for £100,000. Then sold again in 2013 for £240,000.



Kate Middleton’s custom-made wedding dress is designed by Alexander McQueen’s creative director Sarah Burton. The dress is worth £250,000.



Amal Clooney wore a custom-made gown by Oscar de la Renta while wedding to George Clooney. The dress featured intricate lace detailing and hand-embroidered pearls which is worth $380,000.



Although the cost of Meghan Markle's custom-made Givenchy wedding dress is not confirmed, it is estimated to be around £400,000.



Photographer Mary Joe Connolly modelled a wedding dress for an interview. The dress was made of 100,000 cultured pearls and was worth $100,000 in the 1950s, donning the most priciest tag for its time. Today, the gown is worth $500,000.


The little black dress Audrey Hepburn wore in “Breakfasts at Tiffany’s” is one of the most iconic dresses of all time. The Givenchy dress was auctioned and sold for almost $1 million at Christie’s New York.









The pinafore Julie Andrews wore when she played Maria Von Trapp in “The Sound of Music” was sold for $1.56 million at auction.


















Nicole Kidman was paid $2 million for Christian Dior Haute Coture dress that she wore at the 1997 Academy Awards. "This Dior Haute Couture dress is a work of art that's wrapped in special paper for my daughters” Kidman has said.

















Designed by William Travilla, Marilyn Monroe’s ivory pleated dress from the 1995 movie "The Seven Year Itch" is the world's most iconic dress. The dress was sold for $ 5.6 million at the Beverly Hills auction in 2011.
